Once a year, youth workers from all over Europe come together to share their educational tools and games. This is the International Tool Fair, an international showcase of outstanding good practice. We participated for the third time.
If not every year, we try to visit the event frequently. This year, Anna travelled to Marseille with the support of the Tempus Public Foundation to make contacts and find useful tools. In previous years, we have always made many fruitful connections or even brought home materials that we still use in our human rights education activities.
One of the highlights of the international meeting is the Tools Market, where more than a hundred participants exhibit their own developed educational tools – just like in a marketplace. This has been followed by workshops, which is open to provide opportunity to learn more about a particular tool and try it out. In previous years, we have held a workshop with our online games, with the citizenship simulator DEMO, and this year the organisers have chosen to present the CultureTour.
In between the sessions, conference participants took part in field trips to discover local initiatives. This year, a special aim was to offset as much as possible the impact of their trip on nature. Anna visited a school in Marseille, where she and the students planted trees in a school garden based on permaculture.
