GameOn for Democracy will continue in 2025 with Demokratikus Ifjúságért Alapítvány and 13 other organizations. In the second milestone of the programme, the aim is to promote the VoxPop debating game and to shape some of its elements.
What is VoxPop? The debate game was created to generate good conversations that provoke heated debate. It’s a tool for having a wide-ranging discussion about important issues. A developmental tool to help us acquire new knowledge and, last but not least, to bring us closer together.
We have also involved our team of game master volunteers in this milestone exercise. During the joint session, they learned the components of a good argument, and then the players could choose the one they would most like to debate from three topic sentences. After the game, they brainstormed new topic sentences and their associated lifelines.
Afterwards, in an internal training session, the Foundation’s staff also tried out the game and then collectively brainstormed the topic sentences and lifelines that the volunteers had come up with. New ideas and new aspects were added to the palette.
The next step will be to work out the details of the lifelines, where joint reflection will also play a key role. In April, we will start testing the new theme we have created in several locations.
The GameOn for Democracy, also known as “Using Digital Games to Promote Youth Engagement and a Culture Democratic Debate in Hungary” project, was supported by the United Nations Democracy Fund’s “Using Digital Games to Promote Youth Engagement and a Culture Democratic Debate in Hungary” programme, coordinated by the Demokratikus Ifjúságért Alapítvány.
